When T.H.E.Y was created, of course its founders needed a database for the program. Some sort of mainframe to store and control the agency's information, technology, transportation system, and all the other paraphernalia necessary to keep the system up and running. And thus the Hub was created, designed and programmed by a young master programmer by the name of Vonnegh.
Today the Hub is for the most part maintained by Vonnegh, no longer quite so young, and another employee of T.H.E.Y, a young woman called Meligot. It is their responsibility, among other things, to keep the Hub fully functioning for whatever operations the agents may need to carry out. The Hub contains information vital to the security of T.H.E.Y., and only Meligot (and Vonnegh if the situation requires it) can access it.
Unfortunately the Hub has been hacked into and its current programmers have been attacked. The attacker was taken care of fairly quickly, but not before he managed to cause some serious damage to the computer's data banks--and to the personality no one was aware it had.
And of course the question the agents are all asking, besides Are Meligot and Vonnegh all right, is How in hell are we supposed to get a bipolar computer to bring us back home?
No one has found an answer just yet.
